A Colorful Set of Acrylic Markers That Surprised Me - Tested with a Disney Coloring Page

I'm super excited to share my thoughts on the Languo 60-color acrylic marker set. I'll be using it to recreate a Disney coloring page, which you can read about here.

PACKAGING

The Languo 60-color acrylic marker set comes in a sturdy, multi-level plastic box with a handle. When I first opened it, the box was wrapped in a cardboard sleeve, but it didn't survive the unboxing.

MARKERS

The marker bodies are made of sturdy white plastic, with each one having the same design

On one side, it has the name, and on the other, there's the bar code, logo, and trademarks.

Removing the caps from a few random markers, we can see the transparent tubes inside, which show the ink and the tip of the marker

USING AND IMPRESSIONS

These markers are super comfortable to hold, and the tip is easy to adjust to change the line thickness. The nib is soft and flexible, making it easy to draw fine lines – even with slightly crooked hands like mine.

The ink density is really good – the colors come out bright. Occasionally, I mess up or my hand jerks, and the black outline bleeds outside the light color. But I just wait for the black to dry, and then I use the light color to cover up the mistakes on top. Even the black doesn't show through. The ink dries quickly after application Some markers do bleed a bit, but it's not too bad. After each coloring session, my hands are always stained with some color, and the markers themselves get a bit messy too.

One thing that struck me about these paints is that, despite their rich color, you can still see the outlines of the design underneath. It's pretty clear in these shots.

I've tried to get a nice, even coat, but I've found that applying multiple layers takes too long, so I've stuck to a single layer for now.

The blending is pretty rough, to be honest. You can see some of the issues in these shots.

The colors are pretty bright, but they don't show through from the other side. I'm not sure if that's just because my paper is so dense, but it's hard to say without another example to compare. Anyway, the back of the colored page looks like this - it's clean.

I've found the storage case for my markers to be a bit of a pain to use. With multiple levels, it's a real hassle to find the right marker every time. I end up laying them out in front of me, but it's not very convenient. Plus, the levels take up a lot of space. What I'd really like is a side panel that opens up so I can grab the marker I need. For markers, I think it's worth investing in a separate shelf for storage, just so they're easy to see and access. The fact that the pen clips onto the box makes it easy to move around, though.

I love that they included a test sheet for the markers. However, it's really small, so I can only fit a few colors on it. I end up flipping it over and using the back to compare different shades.

I've noticed that most of the colors don't match the cap color. For instance, I picked a certain brown and it looked light, but when I started applying the ink to the paper, it turned out to be even lighter with a reddish tint. At first glance, 60 colors seem like a lot, but in reality, many of them are missing. There are hardly any burgundy or brown shades. I couldn't find a pure turquoise color either. There's a lack of grey tones as well. On the other hand, there are way too many pink and yellow shades. I'm still trying to figure out the logic behind the color selection for this 60-color set. I've already identified my go-to colors that I use consistently: face shades, contour, and hair colors, and there just aren't enough of them. For example, the Belle scene offers a wide range of brown shades, but I didn't have enough, so I had to get creative with other colors.

THE VERDICT

I know I listed a lot of cons, but to be honest, I'm not that disappointed.

If you're a professional artist, you might want to look elsewhere. I've seen some artists create entire blogs about coloring books, and these markers just wouldn't cut it.

I'm a perfectionist, and I would've loved to have more vibrant, opaque markers without streaks, but since these ones work just fine and I still enjoy coloring with them, I'm not too bothered.

My goal with coloring is to unwind, listen to music, and let my mind wander after a long day.

These markers have been with me for six months now, and they still haven't dried out.
