Screening business partners is a crucial task for any entrepreneur or small business owner. I've found that the tax authorities have been getting stricter, and refusing VAT deductions more often due to problematic partners. This means we need to collect dossiers on each major supplier, but these dossiers can be super costly.
As a small business owner, it's hard to afford an economic security team or spend huge sums on services for finding and tracking information. That's why I'm excited to share with you how to build a 'partner dossier' completely for free!
I've been familiar with the Kontur Focus service for a while now, and I'm impressed with its straightforward interface and ease of use. The homepage search and search itself are a breeze. I've been using it for a week, and the build quality surprised me.
The service allows you to search by organization name, tax ID, OGRN, or the director/founder's name. You can get any info you need. For example, you can see the date of establishment, location, express assessment, and so on. All the important stuff in one place. Simple and easy to read.

This is serious stuff, with formulas and calculations (if you had an economics analysis in university, you'll know what I'm talking about). This is what I call an economic dossier.
The report concludes with an analysis of the company's position. I use this tool to create financial reports for my own company – I'm a bookkeeper, after all. It's a really useful feature. There's also some extra info on the organization's checks: planned vs. unplanned, upcoming and past checks, and any infractions that were found.
I've included screenshots from the app to show exactly where and what to look for, but for the 'dossier', tax authority, or court, you can export everything into one document and print it out. You can find this option here. To avoid wasting paper, you can just export and store it digitally.
There's a separate tab for passport checks. Of course, you can just check if the director's or founder's passport is valid or if it's been stolen. The rest of the info is blocked off (the Personal Data Act prohibits this). We just need to enter the series and code and get the response (this might come in handy if the tax authority asks if the company was registered on a lost passport).
There are a few other useful features too. In the top-right corner, you can find info on the forum, reviews, and pricing. I'd like to highlight Fokus.forum. I've been checking out the various forums where economic security specialists hang out, and there are always some great articles and recommendations to learn from or share with others.
I've been using this service for a while now, and I've learned a lot from it. The feedback section was a nice surprise - I thought it would just be a bunch of glowing reviews, but nope! It's actually where real users share their thoughts and suggestions for improvement, like asking developers to add new features or fix certain issues.
What's great is that the developers actually listen and work on implementing these changes. Now that I've gone on a bit of a tangent, let's talk about the price.
