A Budget-Friendly Cat Food That Really Hits the Spot with My Feline Friends

summarizeEditor's Summary

My four furry friends have been spoiled rotten by the abundance of rabbits and other animals on our farm, but we still like to keep a stash of dry food on hand for those busy mornings. Kitekat's 'Meat Pie' dry food has been a game-changer for us – it's affordable, and the cats love it. We've tried it for a few months now, and I gotta say, it's a total winner. The cats gobble it up in seconds, and the price is unbeatable. We've even ordered it online in bulk, which is a huge plus. I've been really impressed with the value for money, and it's become a staple in our household. The cats are happy, and that's all that matters. Plus, it's easy to store, thanks to its compact packaging, and the natural ingredients are less prone to spoilage. We've even noticed that it's better for our cats' digestive health, which is a big plus.

Hello there!
I couldn't imagine life in the countryside without our furry friends. We've got four cat therapists, all of whom were 'gifted' to us by well-meaning folks who thought they were doing the cats and new owners a favor. We've learned to live with it, and they're now part of the family.
Our cats aren't spoiled, though - we feed them natural food, and with 50 rabbits and other animals on the farm, there's always plenty to go around. We also keep a stash of dry food on hand for those mornings when we're in a rush. Just pour the right amount into their bowls, and they're good to go. Plus, natural food is less prone to spoilage when we're not around.
We buy our cat food at a reasonable price, often in bulk or by the kilogram. Sometimes we'll order dry food online from places like Kitekat, which is actually pretty affordable.
In this review, I'll be sharing my thoughts on Kitekat's 'Meat Pie' dry food.
KITEKAT dry food - Meat Pie
Product name: Dry, complete food for adult cats - 'Meat Pie' Brand: KITEKAT Weight: 1.9 kg Price: 440 RUB
The formula for this food was developed by professionals, with a balanced mix of proteins, fats, and essential vitamins (D3, B5, B6, etc.), minerals (calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, etc.), healthy fats, oils, and taurine in the right proportions.
Kitekat is a well-known brand among cat owners, and their products are not only found in specialty pet stores but also in most supermarkets.
Their cat food line offers a variety of flavors: juicy beef, chicken, and fish.
The manufacturer markets their food as complete, balanced, and nutritious. Buyers appreciate them for their moderate price, and cats love the appealing taste.
The food is packaged in dense bags with a feeding chart, ingredient information, and a bunch of enticing promises on the back.
✔ Contains the necessary amount of nutrients for each day.
✔ No added flavor enhancers or preservatives.
✔ Enriched with vitamins, minerals, and omega-6.
It sounds promising, considering Kitekat's food is in the economy class.
Even through a closed bag, cats can sniff out the familiar smell of their favorite food. Don't tease them, just open it up already.
The smell is unmistakable, it's pungent and distinctive. As soon as you open the bag, it hits you right in the nose. The shapes are colorful, but to be honest, my cat couldn't care less about the aesthetics. The granules aren't super vibrant, and the colors are a bit muted, but I'm not ruling out the possibility of some coloring agents being used. I mean, who needs natural or artificial colors in cat food, right? On the surface, the granules containing omega should be rich and oily, but I don't see any of that here. They're clean and dry, but not exactly what I'd call luxurious.
The ingredient list let me down. The main component is grains, and that's not even the worst part. My question is, what exactly is the 'meat' in 'Meat Feast'? It's not like we're going to be feasting on anything substantial here. Sure, there are various vitamins and minerals, but all I see is animal-derived meal. grains and their by-products, animal-derived meal, hydrolyzed chicken protein, animal fats and plant oils (including sunflower oil), beet pulp, salt, minerals, vitamins, amino acids (including taurine), colorants, antioxidants, dried carrots.
I'm not sure where the protein is coming from, but it looks like it might be from the beets.
protein – 26 g, fat – 10 g, fiber – 3 g, ash – 9 g, calcium – 1.5 g, phosphorus – 0.9 g, vitamin A – 1200 IU, vitamin D – 120 IU, vitamin E – 5.5 mg.
On the plus side, the calorie count for this cat food is pretty standard for dry food.
Energy value (100 g): 340 kcal / 1422 kJ.
My cats are used to budget-friendly food, and they'll eat just about anything - except one of them, who's a bit picky, but not fussy about mice, I suppose. They seem to prefer natural products. My cats already know and love Kitekat food, and they're always happy to see it, especially since I feed them dry food in the mornings when they're hungriest.
The kibble pieces have rounded edges, making them easy to chew and not scratching their mouths.
Don't forget that water should always be freely available, as their thirst increases after eating dry food.
Dry food not only satisfies their hunger but also provides a range of practical benefits, including normal and usually sufficient tooth cleaning, gum massage, and overall oral hygiene, which helps maintain their dental health. Dry food is a lifesaver. In the mornings, I quickly pour some food and put it outside, and after work, we feed them their favorite treats. They're not picky, and they're always happy. If they don't finish their food, the neighborhood cats will clean up the leftovers.
I don't bother with exact dosages - I just pour a little extra, as it's impossible to keep track of who ate how much out of four cats.
Listen up, folks who are giving me grief about turning cats into cows and basically poisoning them with digestive issues. Let me reiterate: when I review chips, it doesn't mean I'm eating them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Same goes for Kitekat food - it's a supplement, not a replacement for their regular diet. Even though it's marketed as a complete food, its formula doesn't make it a suitable substitute for premium cat food. I can spoil my kitties with this stuff, but I won't rely on it as their sole source of nutrition.
Kitekat's 'Meat Feast' really hit the spot with my feline friends, and its budget-friendly price tag is a win-win for me.If you're on the hunt for an affordable cat food, I'd say give this one a closer look.
I don't buy into the idea that cats get hooked on dry food like humans do on fast food, and they'll never opt for fresh meat or cooked fish over a decent dry kibble. So, without hesitation, I'll keep buying dry food for my kitties, including Kitekat.
keeps them well-fedthey gobble it upsuper affordablebig packaging is a plus when you have multiple catseasy to find in storestons of flavor options.Cons:
the meat content is ridiculously low, and most of the protein comes from plant-based sourcesthere are artificial colors in the mix (even if they're natural, it's not explicitly stated, so let's assume they're synthetic).
Kitekat Dry Cat Food - Meat FeastThanks for reading my review.
Wishing you and your furry friends good health.
