Hello there! I recently visited Petrozavodsk with my husband and booked a Christmas tour. The tour program was packed, so we got back to our hotel around 6-7 pm and were looking for a nearby place to grab dinner. That's when we stumbled upon the Khinkalnaia House cafe.

We were both feeling a bit worn out by the time we got back to the hotel around 7 pm. We needed a break and a bite to eat. The Khinkalnaya House cafe was still open until 10 pm, which was convenient, but I have to admit, it was a bit too late for my taste.

Despite the late hour, the staff were friendly and welcoming. We were a bit early, arriving just after 9 pm, but they were still happy to serve us. The menu was a mix of Georgian dishes, and the prices were pretty reasonable.

The menu had a good selection of khinkali, but not as many options as I'd expected. There were six different types of khachapuri, but just three types of khinkali. We decided to try a few different dishes, including some khinkali with meat and some with cheese.

The khinkali were actually really tasty, and they came with a selection of sauces to choose from. We also ordered some salads and coffee to round out our meal.

The salads, however, were a different story. I ordered a veggie salad with nuts, and it looked great at first. The cucumbers were peeled, the salad was sprinkled with nuts... but the lettuce had a weird, bitter taste. At first, I thought it might be the nuts, but it was definitely the lettuce.

My husband's Greek salad was a disappointment too. The tomatoes were flavorless, and - you guessed it - the lettuce had that same weird, bitter taste.

The coffee, though, was a highlight. We ordered a latte, and it was actually really good! No bitter taste, no weird aftertaste. It was a solid latte that I'd order again, just like the khinkali.

The decor was nice, with a bit of an Eastern flair. The service was lightning-fast, and we barely had to wait for our food. The staff was friendly, too. All in all, it's a decent place to grab dinner, but the quality of the veggies and greens was a major letdown. I mean, we pay for the food, and it'd be nice if it actually tasted good, rather than just being something we're eating because we have to.

Overall, I'd say that Khinkalnaya House is a great spot for a quick bite or a casual dinner. The atmosphere is cozy, the staff is friendly, and the khinkali are delicious. However, be prepared for some inconsistencies in the quality of the vegetables and greens. If you're a fan of Georgian cuisine, you might want to give it a try, but if you're looking for a place with consistently high-quality food, you might want to look elsewhere.
