The story unfolds in Delonogi, a small American town where journalist Anna returns to her hometown.
Then, a shocking news breaks - a dead woman is found in the woods, and it turns out it's Rachel, someone Anna went to school with.
Rachel and her crew looked down on Anna, and they weren't exactly best friends.
You don't need enemies like that. Why did Anna even hang out with them? It was clear they were just pretending to be nice.
Anna herself is a pretty closed-off person. She doesn't let anyone get close to her. She's been through some terrible stuff that nobody would wish on their worst enemy.
Anna's mom is shown to be loving. The woman has some health issues, and Anna often visits and helps her out.
The case will be investigated by police officer Jack. You'll understand why he's not exactly a model husband after watching the series. And as a cop, he's not exactly a pro either.
My friend Priya helped me out with this. She's super sharp and picks up on even the smallest details. But in the last series, she seemed a bit off the mark, to be honest.
I was surprised by the husband of the deceased. He didn't seem too bothered by her disappearance. In fact, he didn't even report her missing right away. What's going on with that?
Zoey, Jack's sister, was another character that didn't quite work for me. As a mom, she's pretty neglectful, leaving her daughter alone all the time. Jack would constantly remind her about his daughter's schedule and stuff... I mean, if Zoey had a job, I could understand, but she just lounges around the house all day, watching TV and drinking.
Anna and Helen were classmates back in the day. Helen's got a pretty mean face, don't you think? I guess you can tell a lot about a person's character by their expression...
Twenty years have passed, and Helen's now the director of their old school.
Lexi's another journalist and news anchor. She's got this whole blonde thing going on, but don't let that fool you. She's got a competitive streak and often clashes with Anna. I was shocked when I found out about her past, though.
Plot
This is a classic drama. It's set in a small town where everyone knows each other, and two friends turn up dead. But who killed them, and why?
I had my own theories, but I couldn't quite piece together the motive behind the murders.
I think some of the dialogue could be cut without affecting the story. It's just unnecessary and makes the show feel dragged out.
One thing that really stood out to me was the way the show would often cut to flashbacks. It was like I was right there with Anna, reliving moments from her past.
The show does contain some strong language, but it's not gratuitous - it feels like it's actually serving a purpose.
The pacing is a bit slow, but the final episode really picks up the pace and has some unexpected twists.
It left me feeling disgusted. I mean, how could someone do that? It's just... wow.
But then, when they finally revealed the killer, something strange happened. My disgust turned to... admiration? Yeah, I was actually impressed by the killer.
I mean, what was their motive? To just walk into the police station and confess? But how would they even find the evidence to prove it? The killer did everything right.
Overall impressions
Overall, I really enjoyed the show. The actors did a great job of bringing the characters to life, and they really nailed the emotional moments. There are also some great philosophical musings from Anna throughout the series, but they never feel forced or out of place.
The music is really good, and the cinematography is top-notch. There are some dark scenes, but they're necessary to the story.
