My Grandorf Duck & Potato Recipe Review: A Sensitive Dog's Perspective
As a dog owner, I've been on a mission to find the perfect food for my furry friend, a rescue dog with a sensitive stomach and liver issues. After two years of feeding her Acana Hypoallergenic, we encountered an unexpected challenge - she developed an allergy to the food. This led to a trial-and-error process to identify the culprit, and I soon discovered that many dogs have an Acana allergy.
My search for a suitable replacement took me to various pet stores, where I tried Dukes, but unfortunately, she only showed interest in it initially and then lost enthusiasm. The positive reviews for Grandorf caught my attention, and I decided to give it a shot.
Grandorf is the first food that my dog has thoroughly enjoyed (excluding training treats with glutamate, which we use sparingly). The duck and potato recipe has been a game-changer for her!
The food has a mild smell, which I appreciate, as it doesn't contain artificial flavorings. When I compared it to their Wild Duck recipe, the smell and color were identical.
I took a photo of the ingredient list for your convenience:
Dried lamb, Dried chicken, Whole brown rice, Fresh lamb, Fresh chicken, Chicken fat, Chicory root extract (natural source of FOS and inulin), Flaxseed meal, Dried apple, Dried Antarctic krill (natural source of EPA and DHA), Brewer's yeast (natural source of MOS), Yucca schidigera, Taurine, Glucosamine, Chondroitin, Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), Natural antioxidant complex (Rosemary extract, Grapefruit extract, Orange extract, Turmeric, and Silymarin).
The packaging also claims that there are no harmful substances in the food, which is reassuring.
As expected, the food has a slightly oily texture, which was my only concern. However, after a few weeks of feeding her Grandorf, I didn't notice any changes in her coat or digestion, so I'm not worried. I want to test a few more brands, but for now, I'm sticking with Grandorf.
Unfortunately, I had to stop feeding her Grandorf due to concerns about the company's authenticity. The website domain and address listed on the packaging didn't match, which raised suspicions. I think it might be a locally produced product, which raises questions about the price and ingredients used. My dog still loves it, but I'm not sure if it's the best choice for her.
The price for a 3kg bag is 1350 rubles, and 12kg costs 4200 rubles.
