Grandorf Dry Cat Food with Lamb and Turkey

I've tried a bunch of cat food brands, but Grandorf's dry cat food with lamb and turkey really caught my eye. My cats go wild for the taste, and I love that it's made with high-quality protein sources like lamb and turkey. It's a solid choice for cat owners who want to give their pets a nutritious meal that's easy on the wallet.

A Surprisingly Great Value for Money - My Honest Review of Grandorf Dry Cat Food

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm super happy to share our experience with Grandorf Dry Cat Food, which has been a total game changer for our Bengal cat Abina. We introduced this food to her diet when she was just six months old, and it's been a staple ever since. Initially, we were supplementing with other foods, but she took to Grandorf immediately. Now that she's 1.9 years old, we're giving her four different meat flavors, and it's been a total hit. The build quality is seriously impressive, and the value for money is unbeatable. I gotta say, it's worth every penny. We've been buying 2 kg packs, and they disappear quickly!

Hello everyone! I'm excited to share our experience with the Grandorf Dry Cat Food, Lamb with Turkey that our cat, Abina, has been enjoying for almost a year now. We started introducing this food to her diet when she was just six months old, but we were still supplementing with other foods. Before this, she was eating Grandorf for Kittens and Pregnant Cats.
Abina is a Bengal cat that we adopted when she was just 1.5 months old. I'll be sharing more about her adoption story in a separate review.
Initially, we were feeding her premium cat food from Pro Plan, both wet and dry. Later, we decided to upgrade to Holistic Super-Premium class, but I want to mention that the original Pro Plan food didn't really agree with her, and she would eat it reluctantly. That's when we started supplementing with Grandorf, and she took to it immediately. We've been buying 2 kg packs, and they disappear quickly!
Now that Abina is 1.9 years old, we're giving her Grandorf in four different meat flavors.
DESIGN:
One thing that struck me about the packaging is how similar it looks, whether you're buying 400g or 2kg. I've even heard there's an 8kg option, but I've never seen or bought that myself.
The packaging itself is a brown-colored, non-transparent polyethylene bag with red stripes that are unique to this flavor - and each flavor from this brand has its own distinct color, I've noticed three colors so far: pink, red, and green.
On the front of the packaging, there's not a lot of information - just the brand name, the type of food, and some of its characteristics. We've got the lamb and chicken flavor. To be honest, I kind of like the understated design - it's not too flashy or attention-grabbing.
One thing that caught my eye was the abundance of information on the side and back of the packaging – it's all there in multiple languages, but finding the Russian text can be a challenge, especially with all the fine print on the sides, not to mention the back. I'll repeat myself, the packaging for different batches is identical, and all the information is duplicated.
DESCRIPTION:
Healthy nutrition without compromises. This hypoallergenic holistic food is designed to help pets avoid food allergies and meet their meat-based nutritional needs for years to come.
MANUFACTURER'S PROMISES:
Up to 70% meat and animal ingredients No meat by-products Hypoallergenic ingredients Live probiotics and prebiotics Low feeding rate No chicken, peas, corn, or beet pulp
Manufactured in Belgium
RESULTS:
I've found that this food's moderate protein and fat content really helps keep my pet's weight and muscle mass in top shape.
It's got an impressive 70% meat content. The low-grain formula is a big plus. There are two animal-based protein sources. The hypoallergenic ingredients are a relief. The 32% protein and 15% fat ratio is just right.
It's free from common allergens like corn, wheat, beets, lentils, organ meats, eggs, chicken, chicken fat, salt, sugar, dyes, flavor enhancers, soy, and GMOs.
The carefully selected, natural hypoallergenic ingredients help prevent allergic reactions and food sensitivities, ensuring a healthy immune system and digestive health.
The gentle cooking process preserves all the nutrients and beneficial properties of the natural ingredients, giving my pet a top-notch physical condition and a long, healthy life.
BENEFITS:
70% meat content in the food Only animal-based proteins Only hypoallergenic ingredients Only meat without organ meats Balanced Omega 6-3 ratio Controlled pH level Low ash content in the formula Natural antioxidants Gentle cooking process
INGREDIENTS:
Dehydrated lamb meat (22%), Dehydrated chicken meat (20%), Brown rice, Fresh lamb meat (12%), Fresh chicken meat (11%), Chicken fat (4%), Powdered dandelion root (natural source of prebiotics: FOS and inulin), Fresh salmon oil (1%), Dried carrots, Brewer's yeast (natural source of MOS), Dried Antarctic krill (natural source of EPA and DHA, 1%), Dietary fiber, Flaxseed, Dried cranberries, Agave yucca.
I was really impressed by the nutrient profile of this product - it's packed with 20,000 IU/kg of vitamin A, 1,500 IU/kg of vitamin D3, and 600 mg/kg of vitamin E.
It also contains 5.0 mg/kg of copper, 100 mg/kg of zinc, 15.0 mg/kg of manganese, 1.5 mg/kg of iodine, and 0.2 mg/kg of selenium.
And if that's not enough, it's also got 1,500 mg/kg of taurine.
But what really caught my eye was the antioxidant blend - it's got 1,000 mg/kg of tocopherol-rich extracts from plant oils.
The packaging is really well done - it's securely sealed with a line for easy opening and a zipper lock.
Even the smaller packaging has the same features - a line for opening and a zipper lock.
The inner seal is really convenient and tightly closes, making it easy to store the food without having to transfer it. Plus, the smell is contained, so you don't have to worry about it spreading.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Manufacturer: Grandorf Country of origin: Belgium Flavor: Lamb Turkey Packaging: 2 kg. Price: Between 3200 and 3500 for 2 kg. I've bought this cat food everywhere, but it's super pricey at pet stores, and I'm not a fan of shopping on those marketplaces. Believe me, I've tried it. I usually grab it at the children's world store, and sometimes they have sales – I've even managed to get it for as low as 2900 rubles.
USAGE:
That's the culprit behind this review - our adult Bengali cat, who's now 1 year and 5 months old, and about a year old on this photo.
I think it's pointless to talk about how the food smells bad - I'm sure all cat foods are stinky. The granules are brown and uniform in color, with a triangular shape, and they're naturally larger than the previous food from the same brand, which I mentioned at the beginning of this review.
Here's a comparison - the Grandorf lamb and turkey on the left, and the Grandorf 4-meat on the right, which I replaced with another flavor after a while.
As for food and my cat's interest in eating - I want to say that my cat doesn't really go for it and her appetite isn't that great for this food, I could see her eating it without much enthusiasm, just like she did with the previous food, which was from Purina Pro, and she ate that well, but this Holistic food is in a league of its own, so it's harder to get her to eat it.
At first, I was planning to switch to this food, but now we're giving her 4 meats and she eats with great enthusiasm and appetite.
We don't feed her on a schedule or on demand, and we make sure there's always food in her bowl. She eats when she wants, knows what she likes, and doesn't overeat. Water's always accessible.
I've found that the food lasts exactly a month, sometimes even a bit less! So, despite the minus of lacking a strong appetite, it doesn't affect her health at all – she'll eat what she needs, and one pack lasts a month, which is a notable expense, but I decided to replace it with 4-meat food and her appetite for it is much better, so I'm taking off a star.
MORAL OF THE STORY:
This is an excellent food, a super-premium Holistic series that won't make you feel guilty or compromise your conscience when giving it to your pet. The composition is great, with all the necessary vitamins and elements for proper animal development. The packaging is good, whether it's the mini or the large version – the zip-lining is of high quality. Of course, the food smells unpleasant, but it's not meant to please the owners, the cats love it. By the way, regarding the cats liking it – the only minus of this food is the lack of appetite, meaning the cat eats, of course, but not with great enthusiasm. However, this is due to the natural composition and the transition from one food to another, more natural one. Now we've tried the new '4-meat' flavor, and the cat likes it, with a strong appetite, possibly it's just a matter of the pet's personal taste! Unfortunately, you can't ask the cat.
✅ Beautiful packaging design
✅ The zip tie is super convenient for storing
✅ The granules are great
✅ The formula is good
✅ It's holistic
✅ The food is super-premium
❌ There might be a smell
❌ It might be pricey, but it's worth every penny
❌ My pet didn't show a huge appetite
I'd highly recommend it!!!!
