My Honest Review of the Gorenje Washing Machine: A Stylish and Quiet Gem

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've had the chance to use the Gorenje washing machine for an extended period, and I've gotta say, it's a real winner. My parents and I bought it together, and we've been impressed with its performance. The machine is surprisingly quiet, even on the most intense cycles, and the removable drum is a total lifesaver when it comes to loading and unloading laundry. The build quality is solid, and the battery life is better than expected. We've had no issues with it running out of power, which is a huge plus for households where electricity is a concern. However, there are a few areas where it falls short. The machine can be a bit pricey, especially if you're on a tight budget. The user manual could be more detailed, especially for those who are new to washing machines. The machine doesn't have a delay start feature, which can be a bit inconvenient. The detergent dispenser can be a bit finicky, and it sometimes doesn't close properly. The machine doesn't have a child lock feature, which can be a bit of a concern if you have young kids. The machine can be a bit loud when it's draining, but it's not too bad. Overall, I'd say it's worth every penny, but only if you're looking for a stylish and quiet machine. If you're on a tight budget, you might want to consider other options.

Hello everyone!
I'm sharing my thoughts on the washing machine my parents bought. I live with them for extended periods, so we use the washing machine a lot. This review is based on my personal experience, and my parents and I made the purchase together.
When it came time to choose a new washing machine, we had a few criteria in mind. My dad's old machine was a 25-year-old Indezit model that had seen better days. It had been repaired countless times, and eventually, the brain gave up, and it stopped working on the main programs. It would randomly switch modes and not wash properly.
For my dad, a removable drum was a must-have feature. We looked for machines with this specific characteristic, but it's surprising how often manufacturers don't highlight this feature in their specs. Sometimes, you'll find this information in the seller's Q&A or on the manufacturer's website. Some sellers might even admit they're not sure about the feature.
My dad consulted a washing machine repair specialist, who recommended Beko. However, I'd read online that Beko machines are prone to breaking down, and they don't offer any warranties.
We initially considered Haier, but I'm not sure why we ruled them out.
I have to say, my partner did some serious research before buying this washing machine. He found this massive forum online with 152 pages of discussion about choosing the right washing machine. He skimmed through it, and a lot of people were raving about Gorenje and this exact model. There were some discussions about the wnha and w1nhei models, but for some reason, everyone seemed to agree that the wnha was the way to go.

When it came to choosing the right washing machine, I was also looking for one with an inverter motor. Since we live in a rental apartment, our current washing machine, the ATLANT CMA 60Y87-000, is a total nightmare. It's cheap, but it's all over the place, and it sounds like a jackhammer is running in the background. I've seen my friend's washing machine with an inverter motor, and it's a big difference. It's quiet, smooth, and the only sound you hear is the gentle spinning of the clothes in the drum.
What's an inverter motor? An inverter motor uses a frequency converter to precisely control the speed and rotational frequency of the motor. This design eliminates the need for a collector with brushes, which reduces wear and tear, noise levels, and energy consumption.

We bought the washing machine at MVideo, and we ordered it through their app. It just so happened that we had a coupon from Detsky Mir that gave us a 5,000 ruble discount on purchases over 30,000 rubles at MVideo. We're glad we didn't throw it away, because we ended up using it to buy this washing machine!
I was stoked to get this washing machine at a discount - the original price was 54,499 rubles, but I managed to snag it for 30,999 rubles after the store's sale. And with our coupon, I got it for an amazing 25,999 rubles. Now, the discounted price is 32,891 rubles. MVideo often gives my husband these huge bonus discounts, but they get deducted in a weird way. On the first day of purchase, you can redeem more bonus points in relation to the purchase price, but it's less afterwards.
We picked it up at the October store, and we drove all the way from Bugulma just for this washing machine.

✅ WASHING MACHINE DESCRIPTION
The washing machine was well-packaged, and I was impressed with the build quality.
From the back, you can see the model name written on a sticker. Normally, it's stuck under the lid inside, but this one doesn't have it.
This washer looks pretty stylish. The black color in the design seems newer and more interesting.
As for the dimensions, this one is noticeably more compact than my old washer. It's not as deep either.

✅ MANUAL
The manual is detailed and in Russian.
It comes with a 1-year warranty, and a year of free post-warranty technical support!
I tucked the instruction manual away in a quote.

✅ OUR EXPERIENCE
Wash Mode. We chose the program that suited us best - Cotton. It's perfect for cotton and linen. We only have cotton clothes, so we stick to this program. The cycle itself takes 3:38 minutes, but you can adjust it.
We've managed to reduce the wash time to 1:40. There are two time options on this program: 3:38 and 1:40. Each time, we have to select the spin speed again because it defaults to the maximum. We want our washing machine to last longer, so we opt for fewer spin cycles. And we have to set the temperature manually each time, too - we choose 40 degrees.
There's a child lock. It's convenient that it's indicated schematically right below the buttons. No need to dig out the manual. Just hold the buttons for a bit. They're touch-sensitive, by the way. The silent mode is also easily accessible. The machine itself turns off quietly, but our bathroom is a bit far from the usual layout, so I don't usually hear it.
The drum has a textured surface. It's a lot narrower than our old washing machine, but it's got a larger diameter, so it's actually more spacious.
I was really pleased to find that the holes in the rubber part at the bottom are positioned perfectly at the very bottom! That's why they work so well. After washing, all the water drains out and there's no need to wipe it down. We have a similar model in Atlanta, but the holes are placed 2 cm higher than they should be, and we always end up with a lot of water.
The black finish really accentuates dust and water spots. I'd read about this before, but we decided to go with it anyway.
The detergent container is standard and easy to use.
Since the power button is separate, we hardly ever touch the cycle selector. It's always set to the color setting.
The control panel is super intuitive and easy to use. It works flawlessly, except sometimes I accidentally turn on the washing machine just by getting close and touching it. Holding the power button down for a bit shuts it off.
Washing performance. I've gotta say, this washing machine is really quiet! It doesn't vibrate or make any noise. It uses the right amount of water, and the clothes come out clean, fresh, and smelling great. After six months of use, we haven't had any issues!
We even have a pause function to add a missing item, but it's a bit too new-fangled for us. We're used to being more careful when loading the laundry.
There's a quick wash program, but we don't really use it. It feels like nothing gets properly cleaned, and it might even be bad for the machine.
✅ THE VERDICT
If we were buying a washing machine today, we'd definitely choose this one. It's super easy to use, quiet, and produces great results. We're hoping it'll last us a long time.
If I think of anything else, I'll add it.
I highly recommend it!
