Hello everyone!

I'm super stoked to share my experience exploring the Lipetsk region, and one of the places I've been dying to visit for ages is Galiychya Gora Nature Reserve.

I've been hearing about this nature reserve since I was a kid, and we even used to plan a trip there, but it never panned out. Now I'm all grown up, and I finally decided to go there myself.

Galiychya Gora Nature Reserve is located in the Lipetsk region, near the village of Donskoy. It's made up of several plots with unique natural features: Galiychya Gora, Morozova Gora, Voronov Kamen, Vorgolskie Skaly, Plyushchan, and Bykova Shya.

Galiychya Gora Nature Reserve belongs to Voronezh State University and serves as a scientific center where researchers study the local flora and fauna, and develop measures to preserve the natural wealth of the area. Students come here for internships. Visitors can enjoy the natural scenery and visit the bird of prey enclosure.

Getting to Galiychya Gora Nature Reserve is relatively easy. From Voronezh, it's about 141 km to the reserve. Take the M4 highway towards Moscow, turn off towards Lipetsk, and follow the signs to Galiychya Gora Nature Reserve.

From Lipetsk, it's around 52 km to the reserve. Head towards Yelets, and turn off at the signpost for Galiychya Gora Nature Reserve, just before the Don River bridge.

We came from the Yelets side, and I have to say, the drive was pretty scenic.

Unfortunately, we made a mistake and visited on a Monday, thinking it was open. But it's actually a day off. When we arrived, there were people around, and we managed to see the birds in the enclosure, the goats, and even got offered a private tour of the museum. But we declined.

They've got a great spot for birdwatching here.

I wish they'd increase the budget for this place – it deserves more investment. Kids might enjoy it, but for me, it's not as exciting as it was when I was a kid... we arrived a bit too late.

We were hoping to see more of the local scenery, but near the river, there's a really cool beach just below the nature reserve. That's where we ended up spending some time. It was scorching hot, so we wanted to take a dip. The water's crystal-clear, and there are plenty of fish swimming around. Just be careful – the current's pretty strong! When you get in, it feels chilly, but you don't want to get out.

The beach is well-equipped, and they've got a lot of facilities already set up. You can rent a sunbed for 150 rubles a day, a cabin for 300 rubles an hour, or even a whole pier.

Everything's spotless, and they've even got proper toilets.

We ended up staying for a while – it's a nice spot.

However, I really wanted to head to the Vorgol's cliffs – it's around 130 km from the nature reserve with the birds. Although it's all part of the same protected zone, it's a whole different story. Maybe I'll write a separate review for that.

I'd definitely recommend visiting the Galiichya Gora nature reserve.
