My Wild Ride Through 'For All the Good - Death'

summarizeEditor's Summary

I just finished reading Maxud Ibrahimbekov's novella, 'For All the Good - Death', and I'm still trying to process the whole thing. It's a wild ride about four teenagers who get trapped in a cave after a landslide. The story's pretty short, but it packs a big punch. I found myself wondering how I'd react if I were in their shoes, and the author does a great job of making you feel invested in the characters.

Hello everyone!
I just finished reading Maxud Ibrahimbekov's novella, 'For All the Good - Death', and I'm still shaking my head.
Four teenagers return home from camp on their own, but changing weather conditions force them to take shelter in a cave, where they stumble upon a World War II-era military bunker.
However, a landslide turns their temporary refuge into a trap.
With limited food and water, the teens must find a way out of the cave ASAP, or risk losing their lives.
But what can ordinary teens do in this situation?
I found myself wondering how I'd react if I were in their shoes.
My Takeaways from Reading the Book
The novella's pretty short, so you can finish it in a couple of hours.
Each of the four main characters is well-developed, and their motivations for conflict are clear. I found myself most invested in the main character, as he seemed the most vulnerable and gentle.
The plot builds up gradually, with some intense moments, but no unnecessary drama. This is a novella geared towards teens, after all.
However, the story does offer something to think about for younger readers. I'd classify this novella as more educational than entertaining.
For those interested in reading more about people trapped in a confined space, check out my review of Yana Wagner's novella, 'The Tunnel".
The Verdict
I'm giving this novella 4 stars.
I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good survival story.
Thanks for reading and commenting, everyone!
