Erborian Baby Skin Effect BB Cream with SPF 20

I've tried a bunch of BB creams, but this one from Erborian really delivers. It's super lightweight, so it won't feel heavy on your skin, and it's got SPF 20 for everyday protection. Plus, the buildable coverage means you can customize the look to your liking. I've been using it for a while now, and it's become a staple in my skincare routine. I love how easy it is to apply and how natural it looks on my skin. It's honestly become a must-have for me.

A game-changer for oily skin, but not for me - the Erborian BB cream

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm not exactly a cream connoisseur, but I gave Erborian's BB-Creme AU Ginseng 5-en-1 a shot. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for me, but I've heard it's a total game-changer for people with oily skin. The cream comes in a standard cardboard box, and it's priced around 2100 rubles for 15 ml - a good deal for a high-quality cream. I picked it up at ZIA, and my oily skin just couldn't handle it, so I ended up giving it to a friend. I figured I'd give it another try, thinking maybe it would work better for me, and yeah, it was an improvement, but not without its quirks. I used it for a week, and I was surprised by the build quality - the buttons feel solid, and the battery lasts longer than I expected. However, it's not suitable for sensitive skin, and it can accentuate dryness and flakiness on dry skin. You can find it at ZIA, and it's also available online through various retailers.

I'm not exactly a cream connoisseur - I'm not one to splurge on them, and I know there are plenty of nice ones within my budget. But I decided to give Erborian's cream a try, and one of them was a total letdown. My oily skin just couldn't handle it, so I ended up giving it to a friend.
But I figured I'd give the second one a shot, thinking maybe it would work better for me. And yeah, it was an improvement, but not without its quirks.
So, let's dive into this cream - the Erborian BB-Creme AU Ginseng 5-en-1.
Where to buy? I picked it up at ZIA. It's a pretty standard price for a high-quality cream like this.
Price-wise, it's around 2100 rubles for 15 ml. That's a pretty good deal, if you ask me.
Appearance-wise, the cream arrived in a cardboard box, which looks pretty solid. It's not fancy, but it gets the job done.
On the back of the box, there's some info about the product: it's a multi-functional cream that combines care and perfection. That sounds like a pretty lofty claim, but I'm willing to give it a shot.
The packaging is pretty small. It's a white tube with a gold cap - it looks nice and compact, and it fits easily in my makeup bag. It's not the most impressive packaging, but it's functional.
The nozzle is cute and looks great. I like the little touch of elegance it adds to the packaging.
From the manufacturer, here's what they say: 'This legendary BB cream for face with a 'baby skin' effect is a multi-functional cream that combines care and perfection.' That's a pretty bold claim, but I'm curious to see if it lives up to it.
I've got the 'Light' tone, which is one of the lightest options. I even bought it in a pair with a green one - go figure how it would look on my skin. Oh well, it works for me - and that's what matters.
Initially, I noticed that the BB cream seems to adapt to my skin tone pretty well, nothing out of the ordinary.
Since my skin is extremely light, it's essential for me that these products don't oxidize and don't turn into an orange mask. That's just a deal-breaker for me.
Consistency-wise, the cream's density is medium. It's not super thick, but not super light either. I always apply it with a damp beauty blender.
The coverage is pretty consistent, but applying it with a damp beauty blender seems easier and more convenient to me.
The cream itself is medium in density.
Usage-wise, I apply it with a damp beauty blender. I absolutely hate applying it with my fingers - it's just not my thing.
Result-wise, I've got combination skin that's prone to oiliness and acne. My chin and nose wings are dry, but my cheeks and forehead are oily. I've got enlarged pores, blackheads, and post-acne scarring.
So, here's the thing... I've got oily skin, and I'll be the first to say that I've been using this moisturizer in the winter and I'm really happy with it. But, let's just say that using it in the summer didn't exactly work out. My skin was already oily to begin with, and this just made it shine even more.
First, let me show you the before and after pics. I mean, it's not bad, but you can see how well it covers up some of my skin's imperfections.
One thing that's definitely a con for me is the shine. I mean, it's not always super obvious, but if it's warm in the house or it's spring/summer outside, this just makes my skin look oily all over again.
My skin just looks greasy. I mean, there are people out there who love that shiny, radiant look, but I'm a matte girl at heart. This just isn't for me - the oiliness, the shine, it's all just not my thing.
I've tried using this moisturizer on its own, and also on top of my favorite matte foundation, but honestly, the shine just won't go away. So, I'm constantly reapplying powder every few hours.
I've gotta say, this cream is pretty great overall. It does a decent job of covering up pores and redness.
It feels really comfortable on my skin - not too greasy, not too thick. I usually apply it on top of my base, and then seal it all with a setting powder. The first photo is without powder, but the rest are after I've applied it with powder.
It doesn't accentuate dryness or flakiness, and the texture is actually pretty nice - like a lightweight primer.
The coverage is pretty good, but it's not super full-coverage. You can still see some of my blemishes and redness, but it's not like it's highlighting them or anything.
The finish is kinda matte, but not super flat. It won't transfer onto my phone or anything, which is a plus.
It lasts pretty well if I set it with powder or a setting spray, but otherwise it's a bit of a mixed bag.
I'm not a fan of the shiny finish, so I'd recommend this cream to people with dry skin, but it's definitely not for oily skin types like mine.
Value for money-wise, it's really affordable. I'm using it, but I wouldn't exactly recommend it. It's not bad, though - it's just not blowing me away.
