A Decent Set of Tires for the Price, with a Few Quirks

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently picked up these Cordiant Comfort 2 tires after reading mostly positive reviews online. They're marketed as a mid-range comfort tire that's supposed to offer a smooth ride. I've got mixed feelings about these tires, but they're definitely worth considering if you're on a budget. They're not perfect, but they get the job done. I've been using them for a while now, and here's the lowdown.

I recently picked up these tires after reading mostly positive reviews online, which piqued my interest and made me want to give them a try.
The Cordiant Comfort 2 is a relatively new tire from this brand, marketed as a mid-range comfort tire that's supposed to offer a smooth ride.
We bought two sets of these tires: one in 185/65/R15 to replace a ContiPremiumContact5 195/55/R15, and another in 185/60/R15 as an alternative to a Hankook K715 185/55/R15.
Both sets were from the 2020 production year, with one tire in the 185/65/R15 size being 50 weeks old from 2019 - yeah, I know, it's a bit old.
I'll describe both sets at once, as they felt similar in terms of performance. The only difference was that the higher-profile tire handled road imperfections a bit better, but it was more prone to slipping in intense turns, which caught me off guard.
During balancing, the tire shop told us that the 185/60 set wasn't well-balanced, and the tire itself was slightly warped. The 185/65 tire, on the other hand, balanced much better and seemed to be in better shape overall.
When driving at high speeds, the 185/60 tire started to vibrate slightly from 110-120 km/h and up, while the 185/65 tire remained smooth up to 130 km/h (we didn't test beyond that, but it's definitely a plus).
On the car with the 185/65 tires, the steering wheel was slightly turned to the left (towards the 2019 tire) - I'm not sure if this is related to the tire's age, but it's definitely a weird quirk. The car still drove straight, though, so I'm not too worried.
I was pleasantly surprised by the comfort level of these tires, which was better in both sets! Compared to the Hankook, I expected the Cordiant to be better, but it was actually more comfortable and even better than the premium Conti. The tire's sidewall is also relatively thick, which helps with absorption.
As for handling, these tires are more suited for city driving and lower speeds, as they're reinforced and can handle potholes better. However, at speeds above 80 km/h, they start to lose their directional stability and are affected by crosswinds and road camber, which can cause the car to drift off course - it's not a deal-breaker, but it's something to be aware of.
On wet roads at city speeds, they performed well without any noticeable drifting. Dry road traction was also excellent, which is a plus.
It's too early to judge their wear resistance, but based on feel, it should be on par with the K715 and better than the Conti - fingers crossed.
The 185/60 tire was purchased for 2210 rubles per tire, while the 185/65 tire cost 2450 rubles. Considering the minor drawbacks, I think this is a good value for the price, and they have few competitors at this price point, which is a bonus.
