A Sweet Surprise from Pyaterochka: Chocolate-Covered Cherries

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm a huge fan of dried fruits smothered in chocolate, and I'm always on the lookout for new options. I've been searching for those Ivanich and Petrovna cherries everywhere, but they seem to be out of production. So, I was stoked to try Cherries in Chocolate from Good Food. The price for 1kg is 799 rubles, which is a bit steep, but I've paid more for similar products from other manufacturers. I picked up these at Pyaterochka and was pleasantly surprised by the quality.

Hello everyone!
I'm a huge fan of dried fruits covered in chocolate. I remember when Чернослив Иванович and Курага Петровна were super popular. Has anyone else tried them? Let me know in the comments. I've been searching for them everywhere, but they seem to be out of production.
So, I've been trying out other options.
Today, I'm reviewing Чернослив в глазури from Гуд Фуд.
Chocolate-Covered Cherries ReviewI picked up these at Pyaterochka.
The price for 1kg is 799 rubles.
They're not cheap, but I've paid more for similar products from other manufacturers - 1200 rubles per kilogram.
Let's take a look at the packaging.
Chocolate-Covered Cherries ReviewThe packaging is pretty standard - a sealed wrapper with all sides sealed.
Chocolate-Covered Cherries ReviewIt's easy to open - just tear one side of the wrapper, and out comes the chocolate-covered dried fruit.
Chocolate-Covered Cherries ReviewThe packaging has all the necessary info about the product on the back.
Chocolate-Covered Cherries ReviewThe chocolate-covered dried fruit is quite large - you can imagine a big, juicy чернослив inside.
Chocolate-Covered Cherries ReviewThe chocolate coating is evenly applied to all sides.
Dried Fruit in Glaze ReviewI was really pleased with the smooth texture of this candy - no cracks or breaks to be seen. It's just a pleasure to hold in your hand, looks appetizing and delicious.
When I held it up against this amazing coffee, brewed with the help of our coffee machine, I was in heaven.
I sliced into this candy with a photo knife, and it cut cleanly and neatly. The edge was smooth and even.
Dried Fruit in Glaze ReviewSo, how's the taste?
This candy is sweet and pleasant. The glaze or milk chocolate is just sweet enough.
But inside, I was a bit disappointed. Usually, dried fruit in candies like this is slightly chopped. You can still tell and feel it. Here, it's more like jam. The dried fruit is finely chopped and soft.
It's nice to eat, the filling is soft and easy to chew, and it doesn't get stuck in your teeth.
But I wanted a whole, beautiful piece of dried fruit in chocolate glaze - the kind I'm used to and love. And if you add a walnut inside, it's just perfect.
So, keep in mind that these candies aren't exactly what I was expecting. Maybe that's why they're not too pricey - 800 rubles. Today, I bought some with whole dried fruit - apricots and prunes - just the way I like them, and they cost 1200 rubles.
I won't lower my rating too much, though - this is definitely a treat for those who like it.
Dried Fruit in Glaze ReviewAnd from me, 4 stars and a recommendation!
These Dobryanka candies from Perekrestok are incredibly tasty - so tasty, you won't be able to stop! They're perfect for decorating any New Year's giftI've also tried some other tasty treats that you might enjoy.
For fans of the legendary Bounty, this tasty bar with coconut flakes and milk chocolate is a dream come true. Our little bird made with a unique recipe that's nowhere to be found elsewhere - the favorite childhood candies that will leave you craving for more.
