My Chery Exeed Disaster: A Cautionary Tale

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've had my fair share of car troubles, but the Chery Exeed takes the cake. The electronics are super finicky, and the cameras are basically useless. The body is flimsy, and the fuel economy is a major concern. I'm averaging 15-16 liters per 100 kilometers, and that's with a 55-liter tank. The climate control is a total pain, and the rear camera is a total letdown. I'd advise against buying this car.

My Chery Exeed Disaster: A Cautionary Tale
I've had my fair share of car troubles, but the Chery Exeed takes the cake.
The electronics are super finicky. The 10-inch display might not turn on at all or show a wonky TV signal - basically, it's a mess of lines. And its functionality is so limited that it becomes a useless accessory within a week of buying it.
The cameras? Forget about it. 320x240 resolution? That's a joke, especially for the price. And the rear camera is a total letdown - no windshield wiper, so I had to use a cloth to clean it off in the rain.
The climate control is a total pain. It can't even maintain a consistent temperature, and if you don't have a defrosted windshield, it's basically unusable in the summer. I mean, who thought it was a good idea to leave out a defroster?
The body is flimsy, to say the least. It bends with a single finger press, even on the side rails. I shudder to think what this car would look like after a minor fender bender...
The fuel economy is a major concern. I'm averaging 15-16 liters per 100 kilometers, and that's with a 55-liter tank. So, basically, I'm lucky if I make it 300 kilometers on a single tank. Not exactly ideal for long road trips...
The brake pads wore out after just 4,500 kilometers, and all four of them needed to be replaced. The bill? A whopping 20,000 rubles. Not exactly what I'd call a 'guaranteed' repair...
The heated seats are only in the front, which is a major letdown. I mean, I paid extra for the rear seats to be heated, but I guess that was just a pipe dream...
The windshield defroster is a total pain. It comes on with the air conditioning, and it's so loud that you can't even hear yourself think. I mean, who thought it was a good idea to combine those two features?
The automatic door opener is a total disaster. It's slow, finicky, and prone to opening and closing the door randomly. I mean, I've had it open the door while I was still standing next to the car...
The floor of the car is a major issue. If you step on it, your foot goes right through the thin 'flooring'. It's like they took a sheet of plywood and slapped it in there...
The paint job is a total mess. I measured the thickness of the paint, and it's basically the same as the thickness of a coat of nail polish. I mean, it's like they just poured a can of paint on the car and called it a day...
The headrests are a total pain. They're so bent forward that you can't even sit comfortably, and they don't even have any adjustable settings. And the phone holder? It's like they took a random piece of plastic and slapped it in there...
The display is a total pain to use. You can't even change the color scheme, let alone the font size...
On the bright side, the car is huge and spacious, which is a definite plus. It handles like a dream in the snow, which is a huge relief. It looks amazing from the outside, which is a major selling point. And it's great at staying on the road, which is a must-have for any car.
But despite these few redeeming qualities, the Chery Exeed is a car that's riddled with problems. It's a car that's more likely to leave you stranded on the side of the road than get you safely to your destination.
So, if you're in the market for a new car, I'd strongly advise against the Chery Exeed. Trust me, you won't regret it.
Rating: 1/5 stars
Pros: Huge and spacious interior, handles well in the snow, looks great from the outside
Cons: Finicky electronics, poor camera resolution, flimsy body, poor fuel economy, brake pads wore out quickly, heated seats only in the front, windshield defroster is loud, automatic door opener is finicky, floor is flimsy, paint job is poor, headrests are bent forward, display is hard to use
