Cheburashka 2: A Wild Ride of Emotions That'll Captivate Your Kids

summarizeEditor's Summary

Cheburashka 2 is a wild ride of emotions that'll captivate your kids. I'm still buzzing from the New Year's premiere on January 1, 2026. The reboot caught my attention, and I was curious to see how they'd bring the classic characters to life. The result is a movie that's both entertaining and heartwarming. With its engaging storyline and lovable characters, Cheburashka 2 is a must-watch for families. However, be prepared for a high ticket price – 400 rubles on a Sunday – and a photo zone set up by the poster that's more of a distraction than a fun experience. Overall, I'd say Cheburashka 2 is a solid choice for a family movie night, but it's not without its flaws.

Hello!
I'm still buzzing from the New Year's premiere of 'Cheburashka 2' on January 1, 2026. This reboot caught my attention, and I was curious to see how they'd bring the classic characters to life. We decided to take the family to the cinema on a Sunday, and a Cheburashka screening was a great choice, so we grabbed tickets for that. 'Cheburashka 2' Movie
Cheburashka 2 MovieTicket Price – 400 rubles on a Sunday. I thought the hype around the premiere would have died down by now, and the price would drop, but nope, it's still sky-high.
The high ticket price and the photo zone set up by the poster didn't deter people from loving Cheburashka and Crocodile Gena.
Cheburashka 2 MovieDirector – Dmitry Dyachenko.
The story picks up a year after Cheburashka moved in with Gena, and he's become noticeably more intelligent and knows what he can and can't do. He's a bit of a troublemaker, always getting into mischief, but he's incredibly charming and kind.
Cheburashka 2 MovieCast:
Cheburashka. The main character. Just like in the cartoon, he's a lovable toy – a weird creature with big ears. He's voiced by Olga Kuzmina, who has a pleasant, childlike voice with the same tone as the original cartoon. Cheburashka is very curious, always getting into something. But Gena often gets frustrated with the consequences of his actions, and in moments of disapproval, it feels like Gena transforms into a real crocodile and growls. Then the naughty Cheburashka understands he's in the wrong.
Cheburashka 2 Crocodile GenaCrocodile Gena. Sergey Garmash is a fantastic actor who nailed the role and brought so much heart to it. The movie has some amazing scenes where Gena is young, meets his future wife, and they're building a home together. His wife is all about appreciating every moment and cherishing the people you love. It's only when Gena faces some major setbacks that he starts to understand the importance of that.
Gena Young Gena Cheburashka 2Shapoklyak. Elena Yakovleva, who's also known as Rima Anatolyevna here, is a great actress who brings a lot of depth to her character. On the surface, she looks like Shapoklyak with those sharp facial features and angular build, but Rima is a charming, wealthy woman who doesn't have time for petty pranks. If she causes trouble, she does it on a grand scale. She's not all bad, though – she's got a kind heart and good manners. She's more than happy to apologize and make amends. And let me tell you, she loves her granddaughter Sonya to bits.
Rimma Sonya is a handful – she gets what she wants, when she wants it. She breaks things, she destroys things, she even chops down trees. Her grandmother never yells at her, not even when Cheburashka tells her it's not okay to do those things. But Sonya's a fearless kid, or as we say now, a bit of a wild child. At the same time, she loves Cheburashka and they have a blast together.Lariyon. Dmitry Lysenkov. Rimma's right-hand man, assistant, and manager. He's a unique character, charismatic. In his childhood, he was bullied, so he's trying to prove to himself that he's all-powerful and independent. He brings a certain je ne sais quoi to the film. He's persistent and patient.IMPRESSIONS
The first Cheburashka is a bit of a departure from the original, but the second one's message of kindness and understanding is spot on. This isn't a retelling of the original, but rather standalone stories with their own plots. The only thing taken from the original is Cheburashka himself, no changes there. The other characters are just inspired by the originals.
From the very start of 'Cheburashka 2,' I was hooked on the intrigue surrounding the demolition of the house. I was bracing myself for a long, grueling battle to save the house, but just when I thought it was all going to go down, everything changed and turned into a huge party. Sonya's birthday celebration was loud and fun, with plenty of surprises. The kids, led by Cheburashka, snuck off on a camping trip in the mountains. They got lost, and the adventures that awaited them were plenty. I was on the edge of my seat, but I wasn't worried about the kids – it was clear they were going to be okay even when they took a tumble down the mountain.
The camping trip crewLariyon's world came crashing down around him. He felt a surge of power and decided to show everyone who's boss. I think we've all had those moments where we feel wronged and want to prove ourselves. But things got out of hand, and disaster struck.
My daughter's a sensitive kid, and she was crying when the fire broke out. I was on the edge of my seat, wondering when things would turn around.
The transition from lighthearted to intense was seamless. I relaxed, thinking it was all going to be okay, and then suddenly I was on the edge of my seat again.
The scenery throughout the entire movie is stunning. The mountains are breathtakingly beautiful, and the characters' lives unfold in a lush, natural setting.
The ending, as you'd expect from a fairy tale, is happy and satisfying for everyone. The characters all learn from their experiences and come to realize who truly cares about them.
*************
I highly recommend watching 'Cheburashka 2' with kids. It's a great way to show them the consequences of tantrums, mischief, and running away from home!
