Hello everyone!
This is the second book in the series, a continuation of "Your Heart Will Be Broken". To be honest, I didn't plan on reading it, but that's how it turned out...

🏍 BOOK SUMMARY / SHORT DESCRIPTION | PLOT:
By the Shards of Your Heart. Anna JaneHe was my one True love. A bad boy everyone was afraid of. A dangerous heartthrob who had all the girls swooning. He saved me from hell when the whole class was bullying me. And declared me his girlfriend. Even stole my first kiss. No one dared to touch me after that. Who would dare go against the coolest guy in school? I fell for him. And the time we spent together was the best. But one day, he was gone. My heart was shattered into pieces. But then I decided to move on. Why do I still feel like he's alive?
🏍 MAYBE MY OPINION | MY THOUGHTS:
I'll say that the book uses some pretty intense techniques... There's death, murder, chases, betrayal... The beginning of the book really caught me off guard... I got emotional, even cried... Even though the prologue is a spoiler and it's from the middle of the book. Maybe because I've experienced loss and betrayal myself, I understand what it's like... Maybe now there are a lot of people like that...
By the Shards of Your Heart. Anna JaneIn the book, everything is laid out and all the stories are concluded... well, almost all of them, I still don't get one thing - how did the healthy guys from the security team find out where the four teenagers were hiding? They were on a rented apartment, and if Sasha didn't tell his dad, then how did they find out? What exactly happened? You can figure that out for yourself❗❗
I have to admit, the ending left me with a lot of questions... For me, the mystery of Polina's mom remains unsolved. She trusted the abuser and protected him, but when the normal guy finally rescued her, she didn't seem to trust him as much... At first, I was really upset with her, especially about the situation with her birthday... How could she do that? But in the end, everything falls into place... S with that story, you can also get to know Polina's mom better yourself ❗❗
By the Shattered Pieces of Your Heart. Anna JaneI have to say, it's almost unbelievable and fantastical that five teenagers could love each other so much that they couldn't find a replacement or let go... It's like some kind of mass hysteria... Who are these five? You can also get to know them yourself ❗❗
By the Shattered Pieces of Your Heart. Anna JaneI also really loved the cover, which I mentioned at the beginning of my review... I accidentally found out that there's a second part. I went to the Oz store, and there were young girls performing, and I saw a book with a purple cover featuring a girl and a boy on a bike... And only then, at the top, I saw the title, 'Continuation: Your Heart Will Be Broken'...
The first part remained open, just like for the main characters and the people around them. I wasn't planning to buy the second part or read it, but because the book wasn't finished, and the ending broke my heart, I wanted to continue, but it's hard to download the e-book, and I couldn't find a complete version... I somehow found a full version, but it's not convenient, with all the text in one block. There are paragraphs, but not with new pages, just a continuation... I searched for another version, but I couldn't find one... And my book was without a cover, without the illustration...
I wanted to buy the purple one, if I'm not mistaken, it has pictures, but it was out of stock... Someone bought it, but there were other ones available. I didn't want those. The purple one is the most attractive, in my opinion, and it's not thick, the others are big, even though they're light. In general, I read an inconvenient e-book...
By the Shattered Pieces of Your Heart. Anna Jane By the Shattered Pieces of Your Heart. Anna JaneThere are a lot of mistakes in the book. But I compared them, mostly in the e-book version. There were both text and action mistakes... For example, Polina called... But earlier it was written that she was writing to her brother, and at that moment, she was talking on the phone to her sister over the loudspeaker...
I encountered similar mistakes, besides grammar, but I didn't notice them much...
However, there are a lot of repetitions, and the phrase 'Fear was splashing in her eyes' kept appearing... Why always this one? There are synonyms...
I have to say, the book started off pretty depressing, but there were some funny moments too. I even laughed out loud on the bus... But it's not exactly a love story, it's more like an action-packed thriller with guns and chases... The genre's all wrong, if you ask me. There's a lot of violence, but that's what happens when someone's not held accountable, and they just keep pushing boundaries...
And there's a ton of betrayal going on... Like, traitor on traitor... But there are some valuable lessons in there, too - even the traitors get what's coming to them.
By the Shattered Pieces of Your Heart. Anna JaneThe most shocking moment for me was when I finished the first part and was getting ready for the second... Finding out the author had passed away last year was like a thunderclap on a clear day. I mean, I wasn't expecting it...
But overall, the book says that everyone gets what's coming to them... I was waiting for Polina's stepdad to get his comeuppance... He's a total psycho, and I'm pretty sure he's got some serious head issues... You can figure that out for yourself, though❗❗
I was really sad about what happened to Lord, though. Poor little guy... And Igor's just a pig... But how it all went down and what happened to Lord? You'll have to read it for yourself❗❗
One thing I liked was how the story's told from both sides. Like, for example, Roma walked into the room, his brother standing by the window, watching, while Roma walked over to the table with the apples... And then maybe the chapter just keeps going, or it cuts to a new one, told from a different character's perspective... Andrey stood by the window, watching as Roma walked in and sat down at the table with the apples, just like he had a minute ago...
That's basically how the book's structured, so I can say that the characters are pretty well-developed, except for one thing I mentioned at the beginning. If you've read it, you can probably explain it to me - did you understand what happened?

🏍 THE VERDICT:
I'm not gonna lie, it's not a love story. It's more like an action-packed thriller... And I'm not sure if I'd recommend it or not... Without the first book, the second one would be pretty hard to follow, but the first one's not for everyone, either...
But hey, I'm glad I didn't buy it, because I would've only read it once and then either put it down or cut out the interesting quotes. There are some good ones in there, and I found a few that I liked, but I don't want to read it again...
✔ PLUS:
The characters' emotions are really well-describedThe characters are really well-developedThe coverThere are some funny moments
✖ MINUS:
There are a lot of sad momentsToo many repetitive scenesToo many errors

I have to say, I was really into the fairy tale vibe of Lunar Chronicles. Zolushka was a great start to the series. The next one, Krasnaya Shapochka, was even better. I loved the way the author put a twist on the classic tale.Rapunzel was another favorite of mine. The way the story was woven together was just magic.I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about Belosnezhka at first, but it ended up being one of my top picks in the series. The short stories in Zvezdy nad nami were a great way to mix things up and keep the series feeling fresh.Who knew that even villains could be lovable? Kto na svete vsekh prekrasney was a real standout for me.And finally, Zolushka. Provedi menya na svadbu was the perfect ending to the series. I felt like I was right there with the characters.
