I usually buy corn for salads, but I don't use it as a side dish. I've tried different brands, but this time I wanted to get a bigger can, and all they had at the store was Bondyuel. They come in a few varieties - young, sweet, and golden.

I noticed that it's not the cheapest ingredient for salads anymore, the can costs almost 150 rubles (I paid 145, without a discount, it's 168).

Shelf life - 4 years. Manufactured in Russia, Krasnodar Krai. Price - 140-170 rubles.

I chose the young corn because I wanted it to be softer, more delicate, and sweeter. It's said to be a great side dish, but I bought it for salads.

I'm particular about there being no added sugar in the ingredients since it's naturally sweet, and too much sweetness in a dish isn't my thing either.

The can is big, but if you drain all the liquid, you're left with just 272 grams.

Take a look at the ingredients. There's nothing unnecessary, just salt and nothing else.

I like that there's a key for easy opening. I've heard that with this key, it's easy to spot a fake - the key should be able to turn in any direction. Plus, if you squeeze the can with both hands, it should easily bend, which might also be a sign of a fake since Bondyuel uses cans with thick metal on their production line.

I was happy to see that the liquid hadn't risen to the top. As I was cooking, I realized that there was only about half a can of liquid, but it hadn't dried out on top. The top looked just as good as the bottom, which was still in the brine.

It looks like just regular corn. The size is medium, which I think is perfect for salads. You can rinse it or just drain the liquid.xa0

I had about a quarter of the can left over. Some of the kernels were a bit squished, but they were still intact and hadn't turned to mush, although they were a bit soft.

But I was disappointed to see that there were a lot of kernels with dark tips. Some had more than others.

I'm not sure why they would have poor-quality kernels if they claim to have quality control. I've had cans where the kernels were perfect, with no signs of browning. The ones with big brown spots were a no-go for me.

I wouldn't want to find kernels like that in every can, especially considering the price. This brand positions itself as the best, and I expect better.

Taste. It's sweet, but not cloying since there's no added sugar. It's just soft enough – any softer and it would fall apart.

I was pleasantly surprised by how moist these were, not at all dry despite there not being much liquid in the package, even to half full.

Since they're so soft, there's no crunch.

I didn't find any debris (like loose fibers from the edge) either.

By the way, my package has a manufacturing date of 14.08, so it's definitely fresh. If it was made in September, for instance, it would have been packaged in a different container without the 'fresh' label.

I'd still recommend these, even though the price has gone up lately and there are some with black spots that put me off, but overall the taste is great and the ingredients are good. They're perfect for salads, and die-hard fans even eat them as a side dish.
