I've recently developed a passion for makeup, and I'm now doing simple makeup looks for work all the time. I decided I needed a pressed powder to even out my skin tone and give it a nice matte finish.

Compact Powder Matting

Packaging.

The powder comes in a cute plastic packaging that's roughly square in shape. Initially, it was sealed in a thermal plastic wrap to ensure the powder hadn't been opened before I received it.

Packaging design is pretty nice - I like the bright blue-green color on the middle and back of the packaging, which really catches the eye.

The top lid is transparent, with the powder's name and color written on it, so you can get an idea of the shade right away. There's also a cute heart icon.

On the back of the powder, there's a sticker with product information.

Ingredients:

MICA, TALC, MAGNESIUM STEARATE, SILICA, DIMETHICONE, ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, MINERAL OIL, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, POLYISOBUTENE, METHYLPARABEN, PROPYLPARABEN. May contain: CI 77891, CI 77492, CI 77491, CI 77499. Sponge composition: latex.

I think the ingredient list is pretty standard for budget-friendly makeup.

It's not perfect and might not be ideal for those with sensitive skin, but I'd recommend doing a patch test before using it. My skin doesn't tend to react strongly to new products.

The powder closes securely with a characteristic click. I've been carrying it around in my makeup bag and purse, and it's never opened accidentally.

On top of the powder, there's a pattern of a few triangles.

Pigmentation is pretty good.

I've got to say, the sponge in the compact is your run-of-the-mill, super simple latex one - it's a pretty standard affair.

The only thing that bugged me was that it looked like it had been used before, with some streaks on it.

The compact's also got a mirror in it - it's not glass or anything, but it does a decent job of reflecting light.

Usage and results in makeup.

I picked up this compact with the idea that it would help even out my skin tone and reduce the appearance of minor blemishes.

I use it in two ways. With the sponge, it gives a thicker, more even coverage.

And while it's not as dense, it still manages to provide some coverage.

The powder settles pretty evenly over the skin.

It's not perfect, but it does a decent job of covering up any major imperfections - though if you've got any, they might still show through a bit.

I find that if I just use the powder on its own, my skin ends up looking a bit flat. To give my face a bit of a boost, I'll add some contouring and blush.

The sponge is great for touching up on the go - it's easy to use and gets the job done.

The powder does a great job of absorbing excess oil and giving my skin a more even tone.

You can also apply the powder with a brush.

It's easy to get the powder onto the brush, but it does tend to get a bit dusty.

However, the coverage is still pretty light and delicate.

I've found that the powder works pretty well on bare skin, but it also does a decent job of setting my foundation.

Staying power is pretty good - I can go without reapplying for about five hours, unless I'm touching my face a lot. By the end of the workday, though, it's pretty much gone.

Battery life has been surprisingly good, I've been using this powder for over a month, applying it about every other day. And the battery barely shows any signs of wear.

Makeup removal is a breeze. The powder comes off easily with a micellar water, but a regular face wash or cleansing gel will also do the trick. I usually use a micellar water first, then wash my face as usual.

This powder looks great in everyday makeup looks, whether they're simple and understated or a bit more dramatic.

And it looks just as good in more dramatic looks.

I've had no issues with this powder causing any negative reactions on my skin.
