The Sleep Savior: Why This Swaddle is a Total Game-Changer for Tired Moms and Babies

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm obsessed with this swaddle - it's been a total lifesaver for my little one's sleep routine. I picked it up on Wildberries for a reasonable price, and it's been worth every penny. The 100% cotton material is super soft, and the two-way zipper makes it a breeze to use. What I love most is that it's designed for babies from 6-9 kg, so it's perfect for our growing bundle of joy. I was skeptical at first, but the nurse told me that free-swaddling isn't suitable for all babies, and this swaddle has been a total game-changer for our sleep routine. The build quality is top-notch, and the fact that the seams are on the outside is a nice touch. I've tried several swaddles before, but this one takes the cake. My only gripe is that it's a bit pricey, but trust me, it's worth it.

When I was in the hospital, the nurse told me that nobody tight-swaddles their babies anymore and that free-swaddling is the way to go. That's when the baby's arms are free. I immediately understood that this wasn't suitable for my little one. He's always waving his hands around and disturbing his sleep. And if the sleeves aren't covered with some kind of protective material, he might even scratch his face. Talk about a nightmare.
And sleep becomes this crazy show, with the baby crying and not sleeping, and me looking like a zombie from the lack of sleep. Which, by the way, is no joke.
For the first month, I swaddled my baby the way our mothers and grandmothers used to do it. But as the baby grows, the swaddles become too small. So, he easily gets out of them.
I bought this swaddle when my baby was 1.5 months old. But after reading reviews, I realized that everyone takes it in a bigger size. So, I decided to take it in a 6-9 kg size, even though my baby was only 4 kg at the time and 59 cm tall. When I got the swaddle, I thought it would be too small for an 8 kg baby. I know that many people are concerned about the narrow neckline. But all the sizes are indicated, and you can measure your baby with a ruler to see if the swaddle fits.
The 6-9 kg size was perfect for my 1.5-month-old baby. Now that he's 2 months old, we're using this swaddle all the time.
The material is great - 100% cotton. It's really soft and doesn't need to be ironed. It's also a bit stretchy, so it doesn't wrinkle.
I've washed it at 40 degrees in the machine, and it didn't shrink afterwards. The design still looks vibrant and fresh.
There were plenty of design options to choose from, but I ended up going for a white onesie with a farm theme. It looks really cool and it's suitable for both boys and girls.
The onesie itself is a cocoon design with a zipper, similar to a jacket. There's a special insert to prevent the zipper from touching the baby's skin. The zipper is two-way, so you can even change the diaper without unzipping the top part – although, to be honest, it's not that convenient for me.
Now, about using it. You put the onesie on in an open position, place the baby inside, fold up the legs, and then start zipping from the bottom up. Next, you need to fold the baby's arms in, which can be a bit tricky, especially if the baby is strong-willed like mine. Sometimes, I need to ask my partner to hold the baby's arms while I zip it up, but other times, I manage to do it myself.
If the baby is happy, clean, and fed, the onesie really helps them fall asleep faster. It's like they feel more secure and relaxed. However, keep in mind that the baby's hands are not restrained by the onesie, so they can still move them around and even lift them up before falling asleep.
There are days when my little one is fussy, like when we had a cold. And no matter how many times I put this blanket on him, he just won't settle down. He'll keep crying until I take it off him.
One of the upsides of this blanket is that it makes it easier for me to give my baby medicine. He doesn't interfere with my hands, so I can easily apply eye drops or give him vitamins and the like. I've had my fair share of times when the medicine spilled because of his little hands getting in the way.
I don't use this blanket all day. I try to save it for nighttime, so my baby can get a good rest. During the day, I give him some freedom to play with his hands as he likes.
I'm happy with this blanket. It's really well-made. It's not the cheapest option out there, and I'm not sure how long it'll last as my baby grows. Right now, he's 60 cm tall, and there's still plenty of room for his feet. The real issue is the neckline - it's a bit narrow.
That's why I'm deducting one point - it can be a bit tricky to put on my baby on my own, and I need some help from someone else.
I'd recommend trying this blanket out to any moms who are exhausted and just want to get some sleep, like I was.
Thanks for reading, everyone!
