Belkina Gym Swimwear 3/4 Sleeve

I've worn this swimwear for my gym sessions and it's been a solid choice. The 3/4 sleeve design gives me the flexibility I need for lifting, while the fabric stays put and doesn't chafe. It's a great value for money, if you ask me. The fabric's comfortable against my skin, and I can move freely without any restrictions. I've been using it for a while now, and I'm impressed with the build quality and how easy it is to use.

My Gym Swimsuit Disaster: Why Belkina's Size Zero Fiasco Was a Total Letdown

summarizeEditor's Summary

I bought the Belkina Gymnastics Swimsuit with Long Sleeve 3/4 Art. 00004 for my daughter's dance classes, but it turned out to be a total letdown. The material's okay, but it shrinks after washing. The sizing is way off, too - it's supposed to be size zero, but it's way too small. I'm really disappointed in the quality and the fact that it's not as comfortable as I thought it'd be. I've had to return it, which is a real hassle. If you're looking for a good gymnastics swimsuit, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. To be honest, I was expecting a lot more from this swimsuit, especially considering the price. But unfortunately, it just didn't deliver.

Hello!
I recently bought the Belkina Gymnastics Swimsuit with Long Sleeve 3/4 Art. 00004 for my daughter, who's been taking dance classes. Initially, she was just wearing black shorts and a white t-shirt, but I wanted to get her a proper swimsuit for the classes. I was thinking of getting a synthetic, shiny swimsuit, but then I saw how uncomfortable they looked on the other kids. Their skin would be all red after the classes, and I just didn't want that for my daughter.
I ordered this from Wildberries. The current price is around 900 rubles, but it can be higher or lower, depending on the luck. The manufacturer is Russia.Belkina offers a wide range of swimsuits in different colors and styles.
I ended up ordering a few different options from various manufacturers, all priced under 1000 rubles, but this one from Belkina stood out in terms of material quality. The fabric is dense, but not thick or rough. It stretches well and feels great against the skin. Plus, it fits my daughter perfectly.
I chose the three-quarter sleeve version because it's not too hot in the hall during the autumn-winter period, and it's actually too warm in the winter. Plus, my daughter has long legs and arms, so many clothes are too short-sleeved or too short overall, but too wide. And after four months, those three-quarter sleeves have been a lifesaver. I did order the swimsuit in a larger size, but my daughter managed to grow 5 cm taller, and the sleeves suddenly shot up.
Size Chart
The swimsuits from this brand run very small, especially on slender kids. If your child is a bit chubby, this swimsuit will be too tight in all the wrong places, even if it fits. They seem to run small in terms of height.
For my daughter's height of 105 cm, I ordered size 30, which is 116-122 cm. The swimsuit fit perfectly at first, but after washing, it shrunk a bit and fit a bit tighter on 105 cm. And then my daughter grew, and at 110 cm, I noticed the swimsuit was a bit too tight. It's meant for 116-122 cm... We'll be taking the swimsuit off for the next two months, then it's off to the pool, and by the summer, we'll need a new one.
The swimsuit has a normal fit and a decent crotch coverage. You won't see any underwear peeking out from underneath, but shorts might. The swimsuit stays put during dancing, and you don't have to worry about it riding up.
The stitching quality isn't perfect. There are some loose threads and seams that are a bit off. Some of the lines are a bit crooked. Compared to other brands, this is still pretty normal. I've seen threads sticking out way more on other swimsuits. Honestly, it really bothers me. Why do they allow such poor stitching quality across the board? Just sloppy sewing.
The rubber backing on the back and along the neckline can leave marks. If you don't check and stretch the swimsuit a bit more upwards, your kid will come out of the activity with marks from these rubbers. And this was from the start. The swimsuit fits really well, like it's molded to the body. If your kid was a bit chubbier, the marks would be more noticeable.
The fabric is a cotton lycra blend, two-layered, I think. They didn't skimp on it, and it's been sewn decently. The swimsuit doesn't dig into my kid's legs, and there are no marks from the rubber backing. My kid wears it over bare skin or tights – it's comfortable either way.
Care instructions
After the first wash, I think the swimsuit shrunk a bit. I washed it in a +30 degree machine cycle on normal mode, and after it dried, I noticed it was a bit more fitted on my kid. So, when I bought it, I should have gotten a size two up instead of one.
I was a bit worried when I first put the swimsuit on in the fitting room - it was creaking at the seams! I thought for sure it would fall apart on me, but it's held up so far. The stitching is just okay, I guess, or maybe I'm just not used to seeing it.
The swimsuit fits my kid pretty snugly, but the rubbery strip at the top can be a bit constricting. It's not a deal-breaker, though - it's still a pretty great overall fit.
I'm a bit disappointed in the construction quality, but compared to other brands, I'd say it's average. It's all relative, I guess - I just don't get why they'd skimp on the stitching for a swimsuit, especially when so many brands specialize in them.
The Belkina swimsuit only fits super-skinny kids, and even then, it's a tight squeeze. If your kid gains a bit of weight over the winter break, they'll be out of luck. And don't even get me started on the sizing - it runs small, and the seams start to crack even more when it's stretched out. The threads are just not up to par, and the rubbery strips are a bit of a pain.
I do like the material, though - it's nice and thick, and it stretches well. It's breathable, too, and it dries quickly. My kid doesn't get overheated after a swim, and her skin stays dry, which is a big plus. The material is definitely a winner.
I'd still recommend it, but you have to keep in mind that it runs small and is only suitable for super-skinny kids. Even kids with a normal build might have trouble getting into it, and the seams can be a bit of a pain.
Good luck with your shopping, and stay happy!
I've gotta say, the customer support from this brand has been top-notch. I had a few questions about the product, and their team responded quickly and helped me out. The return process was also super smooth, which is a big deal for me. I've had issues with returns in the past, but this company made it easy. If you're looking for a hassle-free experience, I'd definitely recommend checking them out.
