The Lisenok Abumba is a thoughtfully designed toy that's still not getting old after more than a year - neither for kids nor adults. I wrote a review of the toy itself earlier, so be sure to check that out if you're interested in learning more.
Although the toy comes with amazing and still relevant card and card sets, we wanted more magic for our daughter's second birthday. We had a tough time choosing additional sets for the Lisenok from Abumba - there are plenty to choose from. We went with the seasons - our kid has only experienced two years of life, we don't have any books on the topic, and they seemed the most appealing to us.

Price: 895 rubles
You can buy additional sets for the Lisenok from many places, but Ozon was the most convenient option for me - they had bonuses for the brand's products at the time, making it the best value. At the time of writing, the price was even better - 877 rubles without bonuses.

🌍 Description of the purchase
The additional set came in a presentable flat box made of thick cardboard. Inside, there are two large double-sided cards, a plastic insert that holds another box with 24 small round cards. Everything looks very solid.
The cards are the same size as the ones in the main set: 37*51 cm when unfolded, and 18.5*25 cm when folded. Each side has a different season - winter, spring, summer, and autumn.
The cards are made of thick paper - they're about 1.5-2 times thicker than the ones in the main set.
One thing I noticed is that to get the little fox to read the new set of cards, you need to download the update on your computer.
There are three game options with the "Seasons" card set, unlike the main one:
"Listen" - just like before - put the Abumbu on the image and listen to a short story or fact.
"Play" - same as before - the little fox asks you to find a character or object, and it'll praise you for the correct answer or give you four more chances.
"Puzzles" - new mode - to answer, you need to put the toy on the correct spot. Also, five chances to get it right.
The round cards are just illustrations for each month of the year, highlighting its key differences. The little fox will recite the month's name, its order in the season, and a short fact about it. For example, one of the cards for December says: "December is the first month of winter. New Year's is just around the corner, and everyone will be giving each other gifts."
There are 24 round cards in total, with two cards per month, each with four different facts.
🌍 OUR EXPERIENCE
We downloaded the update on the little fox beforehand, so we could start playing right away. The birthday girl was thrilled with the new set (as she is with any gift so far), and we all played together for a good amount of time, immersing ourselves in the magical world of animals.
The puzzle format is still new to my daughter - it's a complex process that involves listening, problem-solving, visual perception, attention, memory, and motor skills (listening to the question, thinking, finding the image, remembering the layout, and placing the toy correctly).
It's been four months since we got this set, and now my daughter is finally starting to talk. Her vocabulary has expanded, and she's even started putting together sentences. Of course, we do a lot of different activities to help her develop, but most of them require adult participation - reading, studying regular cards, working with educational materials, and role-playing games. Lisambo has been a huge help with her speech and intellectual development without needing adult involvement. That's way safer than watching cartoons or TV, where the content is completely out of our control and can be damaging. It's also more engaging than just reading a book on our own, because it gives instant answers to her questions and interacts with her in a two-way format. Plus, it takes up so little space in our house, considering how multifunctional it is.
When the battery runs out, we can still study the images without any technology, developing our emotional attachment and filling in the gaps in our understanding. And when she gets a bit older, she can start making up her own stories, learning to build sentences and developing her observation skills and imagination.
One thing that adds to the appeal of buying this set as a gift is that the big cards illustrate two of the most popular holidays: New Year's and Birthday. We can basically expand her horizons, enrich her vocabulary, and instill holiday traditions without even leaving the checkout line.
One issue I've noticed with this set is the same problem we've seen before - when you flip the big card to the 'puzzle' or 'listen' modes, Lisambo doesn't recognize the change in game field and just keeps asking the same question, even when it's correct. But if you move it to a different card, it just repeats the image (like in 'listen' mode) and when you put it back, it just keeps narrating.
My husband has a bit of trouble keeping track of the months, so he often has to do some math to figure out which one is which. To prevent this, it would be great if the months were read out in the format 'January is the first month of the year, May is the fifth...'

This 'Seasons' card set is a great addition to the main game, and it's especially perfect for gifting to a kid around 1.5 years old to 4 years old. We'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more cards like this.
