I decided to upgrade my unit to Windows 7 Ultimate, since I already had a license for that version. Windows 7 Starter wasn't bad, but I figured I'd take advantage of the extra features. Either way, the OS runs smoothly and efficiently, without any noticeable lag.
The Wi-Fi works great, with a strong signal that's easy to connect to. The keyboard is super comfortable for a netbook, especially for someone like me who's not exactly tiny. I can type away without any issues or discomfort.
The screen is excellent, with vibrant colors and clear text. I was also pleased to find that the device didn't come with a ton of bloatware - that's a major plus in my book. What was there was easy to uninstall, and I was able to get rid of all the unnecessary programs.
The WidComm Bluetooth module was a bit of a letdown, though. I couldn't connect to my Bluetooth GPS because the software on the netbook has some weird issues with setting up serial ports. That's the same software used on other laptops, so it's not just this one.
I've been running Visual Studio, Office 2010, and a bunch of other apps for image editing and whatnot without any problems. The battery life is also great, lasting me a full day of heavy use without needing a recharge.
ExpressGate is a nice feature that lets you boot up to a browser in about 10 seconds. Of course, I usually just put the netbook to sleep or hibernate after Windows 7, so it's not like I'm really using it that often. Still, it's a nice touch that shows the manufacturer put some thought into the user experience.
This is a solid little netbook with a dual-core processor that can handle just about anything I throw at it. I'm really impressed with its performance and value for money.
